Early in my work experience and from time to time I have been mismanaged. I may not have even known it but I was and many people currently are. This is a huge problem, everywhere! A serious problem that erases trillions of dollars in revenue and erodes profit margins around the world. Not only does it do these things but it tears entire families apart and ruins communities with its ramifications, from lost jobs to abject poverty. The aforementioned are some direct results of this problem and its effect on the global workforce and therefore economy. There is however something we can do to mitigate the effects of "the management problem".
I wrote and tested this "managefesto" because I think the information contained within it needs to be disseminated.
I also believe that if enough people read these contents, that a genuine change will occur across the management spectrum and this will result in more effective and efficient "doctrine instead of dogma".
I have been a great worker (resource/asset/employee/team member/bar code/element) all my life. I have never been fired, I have never been given a negative review. As a matter of fact, I have never been rated at less than "Above Average". My vision, creativity and personal incentive have generated a lot of revenue for many companies globally and on main street. I am completely typical of the worker who is integral to the continued success of the company and without the likes of which it shall perish.
I have had some managers who have done a good job and I have learned from those and I have had some managers that have done a poor job and I have learned even more from those. I personally have trained and managed thousands of people in both actual and virtual teams from over 30 countries and from varied demographics in the retail, technology, transportation and government sectors.
This formula exist to explain best practices and philosophies both learned and observed as well as to make use of the lessons taught by mismanagement. While I do realize this may sound like old hat, it is not. After some 40+ years in the workforce, I submit to you all, "HTM2DP", the formula for proper, effective and efficient management.
Through proper motivation, champions are created and through proper management, championships are won! - Tony Griffith
